You love the way you look after Botox, but you know those results aren’t permanent. Botox is a powerful wrinkle-smoothing treatment with results that last a few months. Don’t worry – though your results are temporary, your new look doesn’t have to be. With regular visits to Dr. Stanton for touch-up injections, you can enjoy your refreshed appearance all the time.

How often do you need to get a Botox touch-up?

What Does Botox Treat?

Botox is the world’s favorite wrinkle treatment. Each year, millions of men and women around the world receive these cosmetic injections. This treatment derives from a purified form of botulinum toxin. When injected into the skin, Botox disrupts communication between nerves and facial muscles, relaxing the muscles that cause expression lines and wrinkles.

Botox only works on dynamic wrinkles, the type of wrinkle that results from repetitive facial movements. We use it to treat many areas of the face, including:

  • Smile lines
  • Frown lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Forehead creases

Dr. Stanton and his team of skilled injectors can help you decide if you’re a good candidate for Botox and which areas of your face will best benefit from this treatment.

How Long Does Botox Last?

The effects of Botox fade over time as your body metabolizes the treatment. You’ll start to see results a few days after your first treatment, which typically last three to six months.

You can maintain your look with a regular upkeep schedule. Most patients return to our office for a follow-up treatment every three to four months.

What Should I Expect from a Botox Touch-Up Treatment?

If you’ve had one Botox appointment, you already know what to look forward to with a follow-up injection. You’ll meet briefly with your injector to examine the treatment area and make a plan. If you have questions, we’ll happily answer them.

When you’re ready for your injections, we’ll cleanse the skin and carefully administer a small quantity of Botox to each treatment zone. The injection process is quick and usually lasts about 10 to 15 minutes. You can return to work and other activities after your injections with few restrictions.

There’s no need for downtime after your appointment. The most common side effects are mild redness, tenderness, and swelling that usually resolves on their own within a few days.

How Can I Enhance the Results of My Botox Treatment?

Botox offers stunning results when used on its own. Many of our patients use this treatment as a solo, stand-alone option. Botox also plays well with other treatments. Pair your Botox with dermal fillers to enhance your results.

Dermal fillers restore facial volume you’ve lost to aging. They can restore youthful facial contours, fill in hollows, and smooth out wrinkles. While Botox only works on expression lines, fillers can provide full-face rejuvenation. A combination of fillers and Botox helps many patients delay facelift surgery.

You can pair fillers with your Botox injections for a full-face rejuvenation. Next time you come in for a touch-up, ask us about adding a filler, too.
